“Vivo V17 price in India will be around Rs 25,000 and it will be released in the market in early December, a source tells 91mobiles“
Vivo is enjoying a great run in the Indian smartphone market, jumping from 10 percent market share in Q2 2019 to 17 percent in Q3. This puts the brand within striking distance of Samsung, which is the second biggest player in the Indian smartphone market with 20 percent market share. However, Vivo’s V17 Pro (review) flagship smartphone has been a dampener of sorts as its sales have been less than stellar, with the sales target reduced by 15 percent and the company officially giving a Rs 2,000 price cut within a month of launch. To prop up the sales further, Vivo is now planning to launch the V17 smartphone.
The Vivo V17 will launch in India in the last week of November, 91mobiles has learnt from a company executive who wishes to remain anonymous. The brand plans to release the handset in the market in the first week of December. Lastly, the Vivo V17 price in India will be set around Rs 25,000. There is no word on the specifications of the handset yet, but we should learn those too in the coming days. Nonetheless, a quad camera setup on the back and dual selfie cameras can be expected.
While the Vivo V17 is being readied for launch, the V17 Pro is set to be discontinued, the executive said. The handset will be phased out from the market gradually after the launch of the V17.
Vivo V17 Pro specifications
To recall its specifications, Vivo V17 Pro was launched as a mid-range smartphone with a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED screen, described as Ultra-FullView display by the company, with Full HD+ (1,080 x 2,400p) resolution. The display comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio, and for security, the brand has included an in-display fingerprint scanner. The handset packs a Snapdragon 675 SoC, coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB built-in storage. The V17 Pro runs Android 9 Pie-based FunTouch OS 9.1 out of the box and is fuelled by a 4,100mAh battery with 18W Dual-Engine fast charging support to keep the lights on for the handset.
Coming to the optics, the quad-camera setup on the V17 Pro features a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens. This primary module is assisted by three cameras, i.e. an 8-megapixel, f/2.2 ultra-wide unit, a 13-megapixel telephoto unit offering 2x optical zoom, and a 2-megapixel depth assistance unit with an f/2.4 lens. For selfies, there is a dual-front pop-up camera setup. This features a 32-megapixel main camera unit with an f/2.0 lens and an ultra-wide-angle unit with an 8-megapixel sensor.
