[Exclusive] Vivo X Fold 5 India launch timeline revealed

The Vivo X Fold 5 is all set to launch in China on June 25th as the latest flagship foldable from the brand. It’s expected to arrive in India as well since the foldable was spotted on the BIS platform recently. Now, 91mobiles has exclusively learnt that Vivo is indeed planning to bring the X Fold 5 in India during the second week of July. We’ve also received few details of the Vivo X Fold 5’s specifications.

According to industry sources, Vivo X Fold 5 will launch in India between July 10th and July 15th. The exact launch date hasn’t been revealed yet. With the previous generation, Vivo launched the X Fold 3 Pro in India and not the vanilla X Fold 3. This time, there’s no mention of a Pro model yet. Vivo X Fold 5 in India will feature a 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging and 40W wireless charging support.. This is the same as the Chinese variant. Based on these details, the Vivo X Fold 5 will offer the biggest battery and fastest charging on a foldable yet. 

Here’s everything else we know about the Vivo X Fold 5:

The Vivo X Fold 5 is teased to launch as the thinnest and lightest foldable yet. Interestingly, Samsung and Honor are also making similar claims about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Magic V3, respectively. The Vivo X Fold 5 will be around 2mm thinner and 20g lighter than the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which measures 11.2mm when folded and 5.2mm when unfolded.

Vivo says that it has used fourth-generation silicon-carbon anode technology with up to 12 percent silicon content for the X Fold 5’s battery to fit in the foldable’s slim body. The Vivo X Fold 5 is also said to be equipped with the company’s second-gen semi-solid-state battery tech making it capable of functioning even at -30 degrees Celsius.

Speaking of durability, the Vivo X Fold 5 is also confirmed to feature IPX8 (3-meter deep water)/IPX9 (high temperature and high pressure)/IPX9+ (underwater folding) rating for water resistance, and an IP5X-rated dustproof rating for folding screen.

The Vivo X Fold 5 will feature a triple-camera setup with Zeiss lenses. It’s also confirmed to feature a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

The foldable will feature an 8T LTPO panel for the primary and cover panels with 4,500 nits local peak brightness and high-frequency PWM dimming rate.

The smartphone will launch in green, titanium, and white colours.
