“The Vivo X21 will come flaunting an all-display front with minimal bezels”
At a time when major brands like Apple and Samsung are yet to perfect the under-display fingerprint scanner, the Chinese handset maker Vivo is all set to launch its third handset with the feature. The upcoming Vivo X21 was recently revealed in a leaked poster, seen earlier this month. Now, the handset maker has gone ahead and announced the launch date of the Vivo X21 amidst aggressive teasing on Weibo. According to the invite, Vivo will announce the successor to the Vivo X20 on March 19th.
The teaser image of the handset shows an all-display fascia with a notch on top and a very slim bezel at the bottom. The teaser images from the brand also confirm that the device will have an under-display fingerprint scanner as seen on the X20 Plus. Notably, the X20 Plus made use of the Synaptics Clear ID fingerprint sensor at the bottom of the display. The sensor works on light-emitting property of the OLED display to recognise and read the fingerprint. Vivo claims that it can unlock the handset in 0.6 to 0.7 seconds.
Vivo has also teased a Qualcomm chipset for the X21, though the brand didn’t reveal the exact processor model that will power the handset. There are speculations that the company can retain the same Snapdragon 660 from the smartphone’s predecessors. The brand has also teased a partnership with JBL, so we can expect the device to come with good audio performance. Apart from these bits, Vivo has not revealed much about the upcoming smartphone.
As for the availability and pricing, nothing is known at the moment. We will know more about the same next week when the brand officially launches the device, and will have the details for you soon thereafter.
