“91mobiles exclusively reported earlier this month that the Vivo X21 is headed to India this month end”
The most anticipated smartphone with an under-display fingerprint scanner – Vivo X21 UD, was launched by the brand back in March in China. The brand announced that the handset will be launched in other markets, starting with Singapore this month. Thereafter, 91mobiles learned from a reliable source in the company that the under-display fingerprint variant of the X21 is headed to India by the end of this month. Now, the handset maker has sent out a media invite in India, hinting at the possible launch of the X21 UD on May 29th.
The brand has not revealed much in the invite, except for the text that says, ‘See you on 29th May 2018.’ This confirms that Vivo has a launch event scheduled on the said date in India. However, the image also contains a large ‘X’ in the center. There is an illustration of a fingerprint in the center of the ‘X’, with the graphics of a circuit board all over the alphabet. Notably, this is the same animation that is seen when you touch the under-display fingerprint scanner on the Vivo X21 UD. Combine this information with the earlier report, and it is safe to assume that it’s indeed the Vivo X21 UD that’s headed our way on May 29th.
To recap on the specs of the handset, it comes with a 6.28-inch display with a full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio to house the notch. The smartphone flaunts a screen-to-body ratio of 90.3 percent. There is a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC ticking at the handset’s core, which is backed by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. The built-in storage can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. In the imaging department, there is a 12MP primary snapper and a 5MP secondary shooter on the rear panel, accompanied by an LED flash. There is a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and is powered by a 3,200mAh battery.
Vivo offers the X21 in Black, Ruby Red, and Aurora White colour options. While the Indian pricing of the smartphone is not known at the moment, our sources have revealed that it will be upwards of Rs 30,000. We will bring you more accurate pricing when the handset goes official, stay tuned.
