“The new Vivo X21s comes with an in-display fingerprint reader and IR Face Unlock feature”

Vivo has silently launched its mid-range X21s smartphone in China as a successor to the X21, which was launched earlier this year. It comes with the Halo FullView display featuring a teardrop notch and greater screen to body ratio. Vivo X21s has been priced at 2,498 yuan (Rs 26,000 approx.) and is only available in China at the moment. Other than it is quite similar in specifications to the V11 Pro and even has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Whether or not it will arrive in India or other markets across the globe, only time will tell. For now, let’s dive into its details.

Vivo X21s specifications

The smartphone comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz paired with an Adreno 512 GPU for graphics processing. There’s only a single variant on offer which features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, further expandable to 256GB via a microSD card. It has a 91.2 percent screen-to-body ratio and features what Vivo calls a 3D micro-arc design, which is basically a patterned all-glass body.

On the optics front, Vivo X21s is equipped with a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera at the back side and a 24.8MP selfie camera with AI beauty technology, which enables customised beauty profiles by analysing the user’s facial features. It also offers studio quality portrait lighting effect for selfies. The primary camera also leverages AI technology to help make it easier for users to click amazing photos, irrespective of the scene or setting. The 12MP rear lens on X21s uses Dual Pixel PDAF technology for faster focus speeds. Then there’s the IR Face Unlock feature and the in-display fingerprint sensor for added security.
