Vivo’s flagship X500 series is set to launch in China this month. The lineup will include three phones: Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max. Ahead of their official debut, Vivo has been steadily teasing key specs and features of the X500 lineup. The latest teaser reveals key camera specifications for the Vivo X500, which will be the standard model in the series.
Vivo X500 camera specifications
Vivo X500 will feature a 50MP primary camera with a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT-828 sensor, which would be the largest ever on Vivo’s standard flagship model. It’s also the same sensor on the Vivo X300 Pro. The primary camera is also confirmed to get Zeiss gimbal-level stabilisation and carry a CIPA 5.5 professional stabilisation rating.
As for the telephoto camera, it’s said to be the same 64MP Sony LYT-610 sensor as the X500 Pro. The telephoto camera will also offer the same rating and support 4K 120fps slow-motion video recording. The Vivo X500 is also confirmed to support a 200 mm teleconverter. The third camera on the X500 could be a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and the selfie camera could also be a 50MP sensor, although this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Vivo’s flagship lineup is already known for offering one of the best smartphone cameras. The same experience is expected from the X500 lineup. We should know better once the phones are official and reviews are out.
Other than upgraded cameras, the Vivo X500 is expected to be a bit different this time around. Instead of a compact screen, the X500 is tipped to feature a slightly bigger 6.59-inch display. In comparison, the Vivo X300 has a compact 6.31-inch display. Instead, the Vivo X500 Pro will be the compact option in the lineup with a 6.37-inch display.
The standard Vivo X500 is also tipped to feature a different camera design, which would still be circular, but with a different placement. Instead of sitting at the centre like on the Pro models, it could be positioned in the upper-left corner of the rear panel.
Based on everything we know so far, the Vivo X500 is shaping up to be an interesting flagship option. It could be worth waiting for if you want Vivo’s flagship camera goodness without having to pay as much as the Pro models. The Vivo X500 could also be a good upgrade for those on an older Vivo flagship.
