[Exclusive] Vivo Y15 with triple rear cameras launching in India soon, to be priced under Rs 15,000

Vivo is planning to launch its mid-range Y15 smartphone in India, 91mobiles has learnt from a company insider who wishes to remain anonymous. To recall, the Chinese brand launched its Y17 handset in the country late last month. As per the source, just like the Y17, the new mid-range offering from the brand, i.e. Y15 (not to be confused with the 2013 model with the same name), will also feature a triple camera module at the back.

Although the source did not disclose the exact pricing of the handset, we have learned that the Vivo Y15 will be priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 in India. Again, we do not have the specific launch date for the smartphone but it is said to be launched in India very soon. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding the processor, battery capacity, and other specifications just yet.

To recall, Vivo Y17 was launched for Rs 17,990 in India and sports a 6.35-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution, a Halo-notch, and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. The handset is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM, and a massive 128GB built-in storage.

In terms of optics, the Vivo Y17, as mentioned earlier, comes with a triple rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel f/2.2 primary sensor, a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel f/2.2 Super wide-angle third sensor. The Super Wide-Angle lens is backed by AI and has 120 degrees field-of-view, but is actually able to capture 108 degrees after accounting for distortion. At the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The Vivo Y17 runs Android 9 Pie-based FunTouchOS 9 out of the box. The smartphone houses a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W Dual Engine fast-charging tech.
