“The Vivo Y19 comes with triple rear cameras and is powered by the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset”
Vivo unveiled its Y19 smartphone earlier this week in Thailand and the brand is set to launch the handset soon in India as well. The exclusive info comes courtesy an executive from the company who wishes to remain anonymous. Furthermore, 91mobiles has learned that the brand will be discontinuing Y19’s predecessor, the Vivo Y17 (first impressions). If we talk about the headline features of the Vivo Y19, the mid-ranger comes with triple rear cameras and draws power from MediaTek’s Helio P65 SoC. As we pointed out in our initial coverage, the Vivo Y19 appears to be a rebranded Vivo U3, albeit with MediaTek Helio P65 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 675 chipset.
Coming to the Vivo Y19 specifications, the phone features a waterdrop notch atop its 6.53-inch full-HD display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the octa-core chipset is assisted by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. On the software side of things, the handset runs Android 9 Pie with a layer of FunTouch OS 9. In terms of optics, the Y19 comes with a triple rear camera setup on the back. This setup includes a 16-megapixel primary camera with f/1.78 aperture, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. At the front, there’s a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video-calling. Fuelling the handset is a massive 5,000mAh battery.
The Vivo Y19 comes across as an iterative upgrade over the Y17. To recall, the handset sports a 6.35-inch HD+ dewdrop notch display design. Powering the phone is the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, assisted by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. For security, there is a fingerprint scanner at the back along with a triple-camera array, which comprises a 13-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors. For selfies, the device houses a 20-megapixel shooter on the front. The Vivo Y17 runs FunTouchOS on top of Android 9 Pie out of the box. A 5,000mAh battery with 18W Dual-Engine fast charging tech rounds off the specs sheet. The Y17 price in India is set at around Rs 14,000, however its successor is expected to be priced higher around Rs 20k, as per our source.
