“The Vivo V1926 smartphone was spotted under the name Y21 last month on the Global Certification Forum website”
An upcoming Vivo smartphone with model number Y1926 has been listed on the website of Bluetooth SIG, the industry body that certifies Bluetooth versions for smartphones and other electronic devices. It was revealed via the Global Certification Forum (GCF) last month that the V1926 smartphone will be sold under the name Vivo Y21. The Bluetooth SIG listing shows the Vivo Y21 smartphone will offer Bluetooth 5.0 support but doesn’t reveal much else.
Information around the Vivo Y21 are fairly scarce, despite it being part of the rumour mill for a month now. To recall, the Chinese did have a smartphone named Y21 a few years ago, so it seems the name is being recycled in 2020. However, it’s likely we will have to wait a little before we find out more details about the handset since Vivo has just started gathering the requisite certifications.
The last Y series smartphone launched by the brand was the Vivo Y9s, back in December last year. Specifications of the smartphone include a 6.38-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with waterdrop notch and in-display fingerprint sensor, Android Pie-based FunTouch OS, and octa-core Snapdragon 665 SoC. The smartphone comes with 128GB onboard storage and 8GB of RAM.
On the back of the handset, in a diamond-shaped alignment, is a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP quad camera setup, while the front panel houses a 32MP selfie sensor. The whole setup is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support. Lastly, connectivity options on the handset include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and dual 4G VoLTE. As for the price, the Vivo Y9s costs RMB 1,998 (about Rs 18,000) in the Chinese market.
