“The Vivo Y3 and Y5 smartphones will be affordable offerings, priced between Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000”
With Samsung trying to regain its dominance in the affordable to mid-range segment in India, Vivo is upping the ante too. The Chinese OEM is prepping to refresh its entire smartphone portfolio in the calendar year 2019. 91mobiles has learned from retail sources that the revamp will start with Vivo’s budget Y-series which is all set to see the entry of the all-new Vivo Y3 and Y5 smartphones. The handsets will take on Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy M and Galaxy A series smartphones.
The Vivo Y series phones usually have double-digit names (Vivo Y91, Y83, Y71 for instance), but the company is now moving towards names with a single digit with the upcoming models. Moreover, at least one of the two upcoming smartphones (if not both) will come with triple-rear camera setup. Our source claims that the handsets will be priced aggressively. The Vivo Y3 will be priced somewhere around Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000, while the Vivo Y5 will be priced at around Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000.
Details regarding the phones’ specifications and availability are scarce at the moment, but what we can tell you is that they are likely to be launched later this month, around IPL 2019. Vivo is the title sponsor of the T20 tournament, which is all set to kick-off from March 23rd. Therefore, we can expect the Vivo Y3 and Vivo Y5 smartphones around the time. We’ll bring the update as and when it’s there, so stay tuned!
