A new mid-range Vivo smartphone, named Y89, has been launched in the company’s home market. Featuring the same processor as the Z1 Lite, the new Vivo Y89 smartphone comes with a notch display, dual-rear camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Just the latest model in a long list of mid-range Vivo Y series smartphones, this model will come in one gradient colour option to attract the youth.

The Vivo Y89 price has been set as RMB 1,598 (roughly Rs 17,000) and the only configuration is 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. There’s no word on its release and pricing in other markets, including India. In China, the handset is available in two gradient colours – black and blue/purple gradient.

Speaking of specifications, Vivo Y89 sports a 6.26-inch full HD+ IPS LCD screen with 1,080 x 2,280 pixel resolution, 403 ppi pixel density, and screen-to-body ratio of 84.48 percent. It is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 626 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of in-built storage. There’s also a microSD card slot on board which can be expanded it up to 256GB. Vivo Y89 uses an aluminium and polycarbonate body and has a fingerprint reader at the back, along with a dual camera module.
In terms of optics, the Y89 gets a 16-megapixel primary sensor coupled with a 2-megapixel depth sensing unit at the back, with f/2.0 and f/2.4 aperture respectively. A 16-megapixel selfie camera is placed in the front, equipped with dual-LED flash and features such as exposure compensation, scene mode, panorama, autofocus, digital zoom etc.
Vivo Y89 comes preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Funtouch 4.0 OS on top and makes use of a 3260mAh battery with fast charging support. And apart from the fingerprint reader, the phone also supports a Face Unlock feature. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GLONASS, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB 2.0 port.
