After a series of leaks and rumours, Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has lifted the curtains off the Y97 smartphone in its home country. The handset ships with the unique water-drop design which is all the rage in the market right now. Consequently, the Y97 manages to offer an impressive screen-to-body ratio of above 90 percent, as per the company’s claims.
Moving to the specifications, the Vivo Y97 packs a 6.3-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED (2,280 x 1,080 pixels) display and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor which has been paired with 4GB RAM. The handset comes with 128GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded using the microSD card up to 256GB. The smartphone boots Android 8.1 Oreo-based FunTouch OS out of the box.
For optics, the Vivo Y97 ships with a rear-facing dual camera setup comprising a pair of 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. Towards the front, there is a 16-megapixel sensor for clicking selfies. Notably, the optics on the smartphone are assisted by AI features. The Vivo Y97 houses a 3,315mAh battery.
Coming to the pricing and availability, the Y97 has been priced at CNY 1,998 (roughly Rs 21,100) and the smartphone is already available through Vivo’s official China website. If we talk about the colour options, the Y97 has been made available in Aurora Blue, Starry Night Black, and Dream Powder colour options.
