Vivo Y97’s real-life images allegedly leaked; reveal dual cameras and ‘Halo’ notch display

“The Vivo Y97 could feature an in-display fingerprint sensor”

The ‘Halo’ notch display, which Vivo introduced with its latest mid-range offering – the V11 Pro (review), might soon to be found on a brand’s Y-series smartphone. As per popular tipster @MadSimer, Vivo is prepping to announce the new Y97 smartphone in China soon, and it will come with a tiny-notch atop the display to house the selfie camera. Interestingly, the tipster has also shared the alleged hands-on images of the handset.

The images reveal that the Y97 will come with the same design language as the Vivo V11 Pro. There seems to be an edge-to-edge display up front and a layer of glass on the back panel. The rear panel seems to feature a dual camera setup at the top-left corner and ‘Vivo’ branding in the middle. The headphone jack, micro USB port, and the speaker grill can be seen at the bottom edge of the Y97 handset. It remains to be seen if the smartphone comes with in-display fingerprint sensor or not.

For photography, the handset could feature 16MP + 2MP sensors on the rear and a 16MP shooter on the front for selfies. The Vivo Y97 is said to boot Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and house a 3,240mAh battery.

The Vivo Y97 is expected to go official in China on September 20, where the handset is expected to retail at RMB 1898 (~ Rs 19,998). We’d have more details about the handset in coming days, so stay tuned.
