The teardown video for the iPhone 14 Pro Max was shared by a YouTube channel named PBKreviews, and it gives a detailed look of what’s inside the new iPhone 14 Pro models. From the outside, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has similar dimensions and design to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, apart from the Dynamic Island hole-punch mechanism that Apple has adopted and few other minor differences. Let us take a look at how different the iPhone 14 Pro Max is on the inside, as compared to its predecessor.

Right under the display, the iPhone 14 Pro Max internals look pretty similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. There is no SIM tray, since it’s a US model with eSIM. The display comes off to reveal an L-shaped battery marked 16.93Wh, and the logic board on the left with the new “A16 Bionic” engraving. According to a report in 9to5Mac, there is a metal plate with graphite pads that transfer and dissipate heat. This could be the new thermal system that Apple mentioned during its launch presentation. Another interesting thing to note is that the front camera has OIS, but it wasn’t something Apple mentioned in the presentation.

The teardown from PBKreviews also gives us a closer look at the satellite connectivity module that will facilitate the new feature, and the lack of a SIM card tray on the US-only models of the iPhone. It also shows Apple’s new method of placing the proximity sensor under the display to be able to make the hole-punch ‘Dynamic Island’ notch. This allows all parts to fit in an area 30 percent smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro’s notch.

The video also shows that the TrueDepth camera module for the front camera is much smaller, again, to allow the company to implement the Dynamic Island. The new 48-megapixel wide angle shooter on the iPhone 14 Pro Max also has a much larger sensor, the teardown video shows.
