Design

Apple Watch Series 8 shares the same design as its predecessor. The back houses the sensors, the left has the speaker, and the right has the Digital Crown, Side Button, and microphone. It is crack resistant and features IP6X and WR50 dust and water resistance, respectively.

Size & Models

You can get the Apple Watch Series 8 in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm. Both of these sizes come with GPS only or GPS+LTE models. Aluminum and Stainless Steel are the two case material options.

Display

The 45mm variant has a 396 x 484-pixel Retina display, while the 41mm variant has a 352 x 430-pixel Retina display. It is an LTPO OLED screen with brightness levels of up to 1,000 nits. It gets quite bright and is easy to read even under the harshest sunlight.

Sensors & features

The addition of a Temperature sensor enables women's health features. Crash Detection, Backtracking, and Retracing are some other newly added features. Fall detection, ECG, etc., from previous generations, are all available alongside a new Detailed Sleep Analysis feature.

Hardware

The Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra share the same S8 SiP 64-bit dual-core processor which is very similar to the chip used in Apple Watch Series 6 and Series 7.

Software

Apple Watch Series 8 runs on watchOS 9. The latest software comes with new features like the Medications app which lets you set reminders for medicines you need to take on regularly.

Battery

It provides a battery life of 1 to 1.5 days which is good but nothing to write home about. At times you will need to recharge it twice in a day if you use it for extensive workouts or want it to track your sleep.

Verdict

The Apple Watch Series 8 uses impressive hardware and software to deliver an all-around solid experience. For iPhone users looking for a premium lifestyle smartwatch, it is the defacto choice!
