iPhone 15 Pro Max Review in 10 Points

design

The overall design of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is similar to its predecessor but it is lighter. Moreover, it has a titanium frame with rounded edges. Overall the in-hand feel of the device is very comfortable and premium. And, it also boasts the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

USB-C Port

The iPhone 15 Pro Max now comes with a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. Since it is a USB 3 port, it has transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps. Overall, it is convenient and eliminates the need to carry multiple cables.

Action Button

The mute switch has been replaced by the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. You can assign it any of the preset tasks which makes it very versatile. If you're in the camera app, the Action button works as a shutter key. While we did miss the mute switch, we can live with this change.

Display

The iPhone 15 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports HDR, True Tone, etc., with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits outdoors. Every element displayed on the screen is vivid and sharp and you won't have any issues with viewing angles or outdoor usage.

Rear Camera

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a triple camera setup at the rear with a 48MP primary, 12MP ultrawide and 12MP telephoto camera which has a 5X optical zoom. Overall the camera performance won't let you down and it shines in most conditions. It captures images with tons of detail, dynamic range, crisp focus, and hardly any distortion. Front Camera

At the front, the iPhone 15 Pro Max features a 12MP camera for selfies and video calls. It captures accurate skin tones and also boasts auto portrait mode and there are improvements in the dynamic range as well as the night mode images.

Performance

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is powered by Apple's new A17 Pro Bionic chipset which is powerful enough to deliver console-like gaming performance. The benchmark scores are very high and it reflects in daily performance. Everything runs smoothly without any issues. However, there are a few random heating issues.

Software

On the software side of things, the iPhone 15 Pro Max runs on iOS 17. Which might not seem very different when compared to iOS 16 but has several improvements and new features like NameDrop, Contact Posters, StandBy, etc. You won't face any issues with the software.

Battery

In terms of battery life, the iPhone 15 Pro Max delivers a day's worth of battery life with light to moderate usage. However, if you're a heavy user, have AoD on and receive a ton of notifications that wake the screen often you might have to top up the battery by evening.

Charging

The iPhone 15 Pro Max can charge up to 50 percent in 35 minutes using the 20W charger. While this holds true, a full charge from 0-100 percent will need around two hours. Which is slow for a flagship device in 2023.

Verdict

The iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,59,900. It has a few niggles like slow charging or the Action button which can only perform one task. However, it boasts several upgrades like the USB-C port, smooth performance with A17 Pro Bionic, capable cameras with the new 5X telephoto lens, and more. It is going to be a good upgrade for existing iPhone users as it delivers on the promises made by the company.
