Realme 12X 5G review in 10 points

design

The Realme 12X 5G is mostly built out of plastic, however, it feels very premium and sturdy. The phone comes in Purple and Green colour options. The purple variant is a breath of fresh air as it offers a subtle yet aesthetic design missing in phones in this segment.

display

The Realme 12X 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate. While the visibility indoors is good, you will encounter legibility issues under bright sunlight, and it doesn't have all the perks of an OLED panel either. However, the display is decent enough for reading and watching short videos, etc.

rear camera

At the rear, the Realme 12X 5G features a 50MP+2MP dual camera setup. It captures sharp images but the colours aren't consistent and are often on the warmer side. The camera performance is decent at best.

front Camera

The Realme 12X 5G features a 8MP front camera for selfies and video calling. Again, the photos don't capture accurate skin tones and tend to brighten the complexion.

performance

The Realme 12X 5G is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6100+ SoC. The benchmark scores are on par with other devices in the segment. The performance is mostly smooth in daily usage too, but you might face minor stutters during multitasking.

software

The Realme 12X 5G runs on Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. It comes with the AirGesture feature which lets you control the phone by hand gestures. There are other interesting features as well. However, the company should focus on reducing the bloatware.

battery

The Realme 12X 5G houses a 5,000mAh battery that scores over 17 hours in the PC Mark battery test. The handset can easily last an entire day and some on a single charge.

charging

The Realme 12X 5G supports 45W SuperVOOC charging, provided in the box. Using this charger, the device reaches from 0-100 percent within 50 minutes.

verdict

The Realme 12X 5G starts at Rs 11,999. And is a good 5G smartphone for daily usage. The display is good enough for reading and watching short videos, etc. And the design is simple yet elegant at the same time.  However, if cameras are your priority, you should look at other options.
