Users can now put their custom avatars as profile pictures on WhatsApp or choose from 36 custom stickers that show a wide range of emotions and actions. The avatars are also shareable with other WhatsApp users.

“Sending an avatar is a fast and fun way to share feelings with friends and family. It can also be a great way to represent yourself without using your real photo so it feels more private,” WhatsApp said in a blogpost.

“For many people, this will be the first time creating an avatar and we’ll continue to deliver style enhancements, including lighting, shading, hairstyle textures, and more that will make avatars even better over time.”

WhatsApp Avatars availability

The capability to create an avatar has been made available to both Android and iOS users and will be available to everyone over the next few days.

How to create WhatsApp Avatars?

Users will need to launch a WhatsApp conversation and navigate to the Stickers menu in order to create an avatar on the platform. iOS users will find the option to add stickers within a chat box. On Android, users need to tap the emoji symbol in the chatbot, and they will find a sticker option next to the GIF search keyboard. This option can be accessed by scrolling down to the bottom of the screen.

When users go to the stickers option within a chat, the app will show them this if avatars are supported on their device.
