As spotted by KillerFeatures, the code snippet of the latest version of WhatsApp for Android, has the ‘Request Money’ feature mentioned in several places. The code also revealed several features like “your payment request to ‘user’ expired”, ” the ‘user’ declined your payment request”, “waiting for payer”, and “request expired”etc. The new revelation confirms that WhatsApp is working on a user-friendly ‘Request Money’ option, which will land on the app soon. If the feature finds its way to the app, we can expect streamlined bill procurements for WhatsApp Business users as well.

To recall, the WhatsApp Payment transfers money directly to the bank, thanks to the IMPS-based UPI integration. WhatsApp has partnered with an array of small and big banks in India to make it convenient for its 200 million strong user base.
