Wynn Telecom To Invest Rs 270 Cr In New Mobile Making Unit

Wynn Telecom Limited, a part of the Rs 2500 crore SAR Group, has announced that it would set up its manufacturing unit in Himachal Pradesh. The company will invest around Rs 270 crore in the facility — which will be producing mobile phones. The plant is expected to be commissioned by next year. Addressing the media, Arvind Vohra, managing director of Wynn Telecom, said, “We will set up a mobile handset manufacturing unit at Gagret in Himachal Pradesh and it will involve an investment of Rs 270 crore.” logo According to the company, the unit will have a production capacity of one million handsets a month. The new plant comes in line with the company’s plan to invest Rs 500 crore over two years. This amount will be spent on product development and distribution, new plant, branding and marketing. The company, which has total seven models in the market, is also planning to come out with new phones by the end of this year. Looking at the craze among users and profitability factor, Wynn plans to bring smartphones as well as slim handsets to woo the buyers. With all this, SAR Group is anticipating that its mobile handset business would have around 25% share in total turnover, which is expected to reach Rs 2,430 crore by the end of 2010-11 from current Rs 935 crore.
