Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 announcements: Starfield, Forza Motorsport, Overwatch 2, more

Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase earlier this week revealed several new games and shared details about existing Xbox titles. The event offered a deep dive into the much-anticipated Starfield, with details regarding its combat, world, and story. The event also featured Overwatch 2’s new character, Forza Motorsport gameplay reveal, A Plague Tale: Requiem gameplay, a Minecraft strategy game spinoff, Diablo IV details, and more. Here are some of the major announcements and reveals from Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022:

Redfall gameplay trailer

Redfall got a brand-new gameplay trailer that showed off four playable characters and their special abilities. The trailer also showed off the island where Redfall takes place. The characters featured in the gameplay trailer were Layla, Jacob, Remi de la Rosa, and Devinder. Redfall is set to launch in 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Hollow Knight: Silksong gameplay trailer

Xbox revealed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be added on day one on Xbox Game Pass. The much-anticipated Hollow Knight sequel will have a new protagonist named Hornet, who will explore another kingdom from the original title. Hollow Knight: Silksong release date isn’t announced yet.

Riot Games on Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft has announced that Riot Games’ biggest games are coming to Xbox Game Pass. Games like League of Legends, Valorant, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra will be added to the Game Pass library soon. Since all of these games are free to play, Game Pass subscribers will get access to all locked agents, champions, and cards in these titles at no additional cost.

A Plague Tale: Requiem gameplay trailer

Xbox revealed a new gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem. The game will launch later this year and it will be available at launch on Xbox Game Pass. The story of A Plague Tale sequel will most likely be darker than the original game, with Amicia de Rune finding more aggressive ways to kill her enemies.

Forza Motorsport reveal

Forza Motorsport got its first trailer that showed off improved and realistic graphics, dynamic day and night cycles, ray tracing effects, and realistic damage to cars. The game is designed with Xbox Series X|S in mind to show off the hardware prowess of the consoles. Forza Motorsport is set in Maple Valley with returning tracks such as Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca Raceway as well as new circuits like Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and Circuit Hakone. Forza Motorsport will be launching in 2023. Besides these, Forza Horizon 5 is getting a new Hot Wheels DLC which will feature tracks and cars inspired by Hot Wheels toys. The Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels DLC is releasing on July 19.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary

Microsoft Flight Simulator is set to celebrate its 40-year anniversary with new aircraft such as helicopters and gliders. Besides these, Halo-themed vehicles will now be added to Microsoft Flight Simulator including the UNSC Pelican.

Overwatch 2 free-to-play announcement

Overwatch 2 showed off its brand-new character, the Junker Queen, who wields a large axe and a lever-action shotgun. The game will begin Early Access on October 4 and it will be free to play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Ps5, PS4, and Switch.

Scorn release date announcement

Microsoft showed new gameplay of the highly anticipated game, Scorn. The trailer features a lot of gross visuals and various creatures you will encounter in the game’s H.R. Giger-inspired world. Scorn will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 22 and it will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Minecraft Legends announcement trailer

Minecraft is getting a brand-new action strategy spinoff game called Minecraft Legends. The gameplay trailer shows off various mobs battling against mobs from the Nether. Minecraft Legends will be launching in 2023 and it will be added to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Diablo IV gameplay and new character showcase

Diablo IV showed off its new necromancer class as well as some more gameplay. The necromancer class character can cast blood and bone spells and summon zombie minions. The game will release in 2023 with cross-progression and cross-play support for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, PS4, and Switch.

Persona games coming to Xbox

Several Persona games including Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal are coming to Xbox Series X|S. These games will be added to Xbox Games Pass, with Persona 5 Royale scheduled for October 21.

Starfield deep dive

The much-anticipated Starfield got a gameplay reveal at the event, where Bethesda showed off its planets, combat, story, and more. In Starfield, you will be looking for artifacts that can alter the galaxy while fighting against various factions in space. The game will feature first-person as well as third-person shooter combat and space battles with your ship. Along with these, Starfield will have deep customization options for your character and spaceship.

The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase also featured partnership between Xbox and gaming legend Hideo Kojima for a brand-new game. Besides these, the event revealed details about games like Ara: History Untold, Lightyear Frontier, Gunfire Reborn, The Last Case of Benedict Fox, As Dusk Falls, Naraka: Bladepoint, Pentiment, Grounded, Ereban: Shadow Legacy, Ark 2, Flintlock: Siege of Dawn, Sea of Thieves, Ravenlok, Cocoon, Wo Long: Final Dynasty, High on Life, Fallout 76, and The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle.
