Xiaomi 13 battery life better than iPhone 14 Pro Max’s, Xiaomi CEO claims

Xiaomi recently confirmed the launch of its much-awaited Xiaomi 13 series will be on December 1st, 2022 at 7 pm China time (4:30 pm IST). The Xiaomi 13 lineup will (initially) feature the vanilla Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro, while the Xiaomi 13S Ultra might launch sometime next year. Lei Jun, CEO and Founder of Xiaomi, posted a long message on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, giving some insight on the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series ahead of its launch. Jun expressed his concerns over the thickness and grip of the upcoming phones rather than being worried about the handset’s battery life. The Xiaomi 13 is said to pack a 4,700mAh battery.

Jun assures that the Xiaomi 13 will offer a good form factor along with outstanding battery life. Moreover, he also backed his claims by disclosing the phone’s battery life DOU test. If you look at the image below (via GizmoChina), you will see the extraordinary battery COU score achieved by Xiaomi 13 during normal use in one day. The score achieved by the vanilla model in this test i.e., 1.37 is even higher than Apple’s premium iPhone 14 Pro Max. The latter which has been lately appreciated for its battery life has a score of 1.28.

He also mentioned how his R&D unit might see a breakthrough in achieving a smartphone whose battery could last for up to two days.

Xiaomi 13 specifications (expected)

The Xiaomi 13 is said to flaunt a 6.2-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and include 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard memory. We can, however, expect the device to launch in more memory configurations as well. As mentioned above, the handset is said to pack a 4,700mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging over a USB Type-C charging port.

Moving to optics, the Xiaomi 13 is likely to feature a 50MP Sony IMX8-series rear camera sensor with support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 32MP snapper at the front for selfies and video calling.
