Xiaomi 15 series release date
China launch: The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro made their official debut on October 29th in China and are the first smartphones to rock the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Xiaomi China also unveiled HyperOS 2 during the same event detailing its features and AI capabilities. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, on the other hand, may launch next year in January.
India launch: As for the India launch, Xiaomi may follow the same pattern as last year and bring it here during the first quarter of 2025 where it will compete against the likes of the OnePlus 13 and Samsung Galaxy S25.

We can expect a price markup of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 on the Xiaomi 15 when it launches in India next year. Also, it’s likely that the Xiaomi 15 Pro may not make its way out of China once again.

Display
The Xiaomi 15 once again comes in a compact form factor, just like its predecessors such as the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 13. It carries a flat TCL M9 3.36-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO to adjust the refresh rate for better efficiency. The bezels are symmetrical and measure 1.38mm which is even less than the iPhone 16 Pro.
Coming to the Xiaomi 15 Pro, the handset features a TCL-produced 6.78-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone has quad-micro curves on the display along with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, DC dimming, and DCI-P3 colour gamut support.

Processor
The entire Xiaomi 15 series is powered by Qualcomm’s newly launched flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This is an octa-core chip with two cores clocked at 4.32 GHz and six cores clocked at 3.53 GHz. Qualcomm is using its in-house Oryon CPU.
Besides that, the Adreno 830 GPU present on the Snapdragon 8 Elite is 45 percent more powerful than the GPU present on last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Another upgrade is in the fabrication process where the 8 Elite is built on TSMC’s new 3nm process. Per leaked benchmark scores, the Xiaomi 15 scored 3,180 and 10,058 on single-core and multi-core tests respectively of Geekbench.

Both the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro come with LPDDR5X high-speed memory along with UFS 4.0 storage speeds. Depending on the country, Xiaomi may launch different storage variants.
Camera
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi 15 Pro houses a 50MP Light Hunter 900 primary camera with F/1.4, a 50MP Sony IMX858 telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and F/2.5, and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor with F/2.2 and 115-degree field of view. Xiaomi has ditched the variable aperture this time.
As for the compact flagship, the Xiaomi 15 features a 50MP Light Hunter 900 main camera, a 50MP JN5 telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and a 50MP JN1 ultra-wide camera just like its ‘Pro’ counterpart. Coming to selfies, both phones carry a 32MP front camera.

Software
The entire Xiaomi 15 lineup boots on HyperOS 2 which is Xiaomi’s take on Android 15. The skin brings HyperCore which is Xiaomi’s self-developed kernel technology platform for aiding in performance, graphics rendering, network, and safety.
Xiaomi’s ever-so-popular lockscreen customisations now support AI wallpapers and several new clock styles. The animations and dynamic effects have been improved in various such as when summoning the control centre and opening or closing apps. The company also introduced HyperAI which is a full-fledged AI system.
Battery and charging
The Xiaomi 15 rocks a 5,400mAh battery with 90W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging support. This is a considerable improvement over Xiaomi 14’s 4,610mAh capacity.
Coming to the Xiaomi 15 Pro, it includes a large 6,100mAh battery with 90W fast charging support, just like the vanilla Xiaomi 15. Its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Pro had a 4880mAh cell.

- From the official renders of the Xiaomi 15 series, the camera modules of both phones appear to have undergone slight changes.
- The lenses are now more prominent and the camera edges have curves, sort of like the micro-curve display of the Xiaomi 15 Pro.
- Xiaomi claims that the weight distribution on both devices is equal on top and bottom.
- The Xiaomi 15 Pro weighs just 213 grams and has a thickness of 8.35mm despite reportedly having a 6000mAh battery cell.
