“The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is expected to sport a 5.99-inch FHD+ display and a Snapdragon 845 SoC“
It’s no more a secret that Xiaomi-backed Black Shark is working on the second generation of its gaming smartphone. Recently, a leaked poster revealed that the smartphone maker might launch the Black Shark 2 in China on October 23rd at 6pm local time (11am IST). Prior to that the phone was spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA’s website. Now more pieces of evidence of the smartphone have popped up on the world wide web including the Geekbench listing and a couple of alleged hands-on images of the upcoming smartphone.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Geekbench spotting
The Geekbench website has the Black Shark 2 listed with the model number “blackshark AWM-A0”. The website reaffirms the rumour that the gaming phone will come with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 845 SoC. The processor is seen mated to 8GB of RAM and the operating system is revealed to be the Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone managed to score 2,403 points in the single-core test and 8,389 points in the multi-core test. These numbers are slightly less than those of the original Black Shark, which is quite surprising. The Black Shark scored 2,452 in the single-core test and 8,452 in multi-core.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 live images
Apart from the Geekbench listing, a couple of hands-on images of the upcoming smartphone have also popped up on the Internet. At first glance, the second-generation model doesn’t seem to be all that much different from its predecessor. However, there are some changes like the loudspeaker is now closer to the edge and is much larger in size, hinting at more powerful audio output. The fingerprint scanner has vanished from the chin and is now located on the back. The brand has also done away with the diamond pattern on the rear as Black Shark 2 comes with a solid glass panel with RGB-embedded Black Shark logo. The dual camera module is seen in the centre. Apart from the volume rocker and power button on the right, there is a third key that is believed to be the Shark Key for the performance boost.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 features and specifications
Apart from the aforementioned details. rumour has it that the successor to Black Shark (first impressions) could flaunt a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with the old aspect ratio of 16:9. The smartphone is speculated to come with a liquid cooling system, latest Android experience, and a beefy 4,000mAh battery.
Sadly no other information regarding the upcoming smartphone is known at the moment. We will bring you more update on October 23rd if indeed the handset goes official that day.
