“The Xiaomi CC9 series, which is expected to include the CC9 and CC9e smartphones, is scheduled for launch in China later today”
The Xiaomi CC9 series finally launches today in China. The event is set to begin at 7pm China time (4:30pm IST) and it will also be broadcast live on China’s micro-blogging network Weibo. A lot has been said and written online about the Xiaomi CC9 series in the past few days. However, some last minute official renders have been posted on Xiaomi’s official channels to reveal some more alluring features of the upcoming CC9 series smartphones.
As per the teasers, the Xiaomi CC9 series will come with a 3D glass body. Now, this was already been presumed before owing to the official renders that were released earlier but we have a confirmation now. The second teased feature is an on-screen fingerprint reader and the latest 7th-gen variant at that. These scanners have evolved rapidly in the last year to go on par with traditional fingerprint readers and we expect them to be very reliable. The third teaser says the battery capacity of the Mi CC9 will be 4,030mAh. We believe this to be the case with all the three variants and it’s a good battery size to have.
Apart from that, we reported the leaked pricing yesterday as the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition was found listed on an e-commerce portal in China with alleged prices. The Mi CC9 price will start at RMB 2,499 (about Rs 25,000) and the Meitu Edition could start at RMB 2,999 (about Rs 30,000). The Xiaomi CC9e price hasn’t leaked yet but the latest information is that it could be equipped with a Snapdragon 665 SoC which will make it very affordable, possibly near the RMB 1,500 (roughly Rs 15,000)-mark. For more details, here are links to the specifications and renders of the series. Xiaomi also said yesterday that some new colour variants should be expected at the launch event.
