“Xiaomi has announced that it hasn’t increased the price of any of its devices in the country”
Over the past few days, there has been a message circulating on instant messaging platforms regarding Xiaomi increasing prices of some of its products in India. The memo in the messages claims that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 6A, and Mi Air Purifier 2S’ prices have been hiked by up to Rs 600 in the country. However, it appears that the messages regarding the pricing hike of Xiaomi products is completely fake.

Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s Global Vice President and Managing Director for India, has recently tweeted that the brand hasn’t increased the price of any of its products in the country. Jain said that the price hike message circulating on instant messaging apps like WhatsApp is completely fake. Furthermore, he added that this message has been floated on these social channels by “distributors of a brand”. Jain urged the company’s followers not to believe the fake news.
As far as the fake memo is concerned, it mentions that 2G+16GB and 2GB+32GB variants of the Redmi 6A will be available with an increased price of Rs 600 and Rs 500 respectively. It further claims the Redmi Note 6 Pro’s 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB models have received a price hike of Rs 500 and Rs 300 respectively. Lastly, the fake message says that the Mi Air Purifier 2S will get a price increase of Rs 500.
So now you know that this news regarding the pricing hike is completely fake, and these devices will continue to sell at the regular pricing. The Redmi 6A’s 2GB/16GB and 2GB/32GB variants are available for Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,999 respectively. The 4GB/64GB and 6GB/64GB Redmi Note 6 Pro variants are up for grabs for Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively. Lastly, the Mi Air Purifier 2S continues to sell for Rs 8,999.
