“Xiaomi managed to sell 300 smartphones every minute”
Xiaomi recently kicked off its Diwali with Mi festive sale across channels in India. Now, the company has announced that it sold more than one million smartphones within 48 hours during the festive sales. The company sold more than 300 smartphones every minute in a two-day period. This is a significant increase from last year’s festive sale around the same time when it sold over one million smartphone units in 18 days.
Xiaomi has been running offers and discounts on its product range on all leading partner platforms like Flipkart, Amazon and Xiaomi-preferred retail stores. The company says that the Redmi Note 4 (review) was the highest selling smartphone during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale. The sale kicked off on September 21st, during which the e-tailer sold more than 1.3 million smartphones in the first 20 hours. The Redmi Note 4 was the top smartphone in the sale, contributing significantly to the overall sales numbers.
Raghu Reddy, Head – Online Sales, Xiaomi India said, “We are extremely proud to be sharing this milestone with our fans, partners and employees. More than six months of rigorous planning and hard work has helped us set a new benchmark in the industry and within Xiaomi. Last year we sold more than a million smartphones within 18 days, and this year we were able to achieve a similar number within 48 hours. Based on what we know, no other brand has ever achieved this in India. Our carefully planning has also ensured that high selling smartphones such as Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 are in stock throughout the festive sale.”
According to Xiaomi, eight of the top nine selling smartphones within this category during Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sale were Xiaomi handsets. Apart from the smartphones, the company is also running offers on the Mi Air Purifier 2, 10,000mAh Mi Powerbank 2 and Mi Band-HRX Edition.
