Xiaomi has made a strong comeback into the high-end Android smartphone segment with the launch of the Mi 11 Ultra. While it hasn’t even been three months since the device made its debut, we already have some information regarding its successor, which, according to rumors, could be called the Xiaomi Mi 12. A few details regarding the display, processor, and camera of the Mi 12 have emerged online, thanks to a Chinese tipster (via MySmartPrice). These Mi 12 specifications give us a pretty good idea about what to expect from the device. Let us have a look.

Xiaomi Mi 12 could feature Snapdragon 895 SoC and 200MP Samsung-Olympus camera
According to a popular tipster on Weibo, Digital Chat Station, the upcoming flagship smartphone from Xiaomi will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8450 SoC. Although Digitial Chat Station didn’t mention the name of the smartphone, we are speculating that the tipster is hinting towards the Mi 12. The SM8450 chipset is expected to arrive as a successor to the Snapdragon 888, and its marketing name could Snapdragon 895. According to the leak, Xiaomi Mi 12 could be one of the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 895 SoC.
As for the imaging, the news from China suggests that the Mi 12 will have a 200MP camera sensor at the rear. According to the leak, this camera sensor is the same 200MP Olympus unit that Samsung is said to be using on the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra. The 200MP Olympus camera sensor is said to have 16-in-1 pixel binning, which means that it can produce 12.5MP images with pixel-binning technology. However, we are speculating that it could also capture 200MP images.
Coming to the display, Digital Chat Station claims that the Mi 12 will have a display that will be curved from the left and the right and have a single punch hole on the screen for the front-facing camera. We hope that Xiaomi equips the device with a display that has a center-mounted punch-hole. Unfortunately, those are the only specifications that Digital Chat Station has revealed so far. Hopefully, we will know more about the Mi 12 in the coming months.
