“The Xiaomi Mi 6X is expected to flaunt the same design as the Redmi Note 5 Pro”
Xiaomi unveiled its loaded budget phon, the Mi 5X in China last year. The brand then went on to launch the same handset as the Mi A1 (review) in India later that year. Now, it seems that Xiaomi is working on the successor to the Android One smartphone, as the Mi 6X has reportedly just appeared on the Chinese certification website, TENAA. Just like last year, we can expect the brand to launch the upcoming smartphone as the Xiaomi Mi A2 in the international market.
As seen on the TENAA, the upcoming smartphone seems to be flaunting an identical design to the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (review). The handset can be seen sporting the same metal unibody design with U-shaped antenna bands pushed to the top and bottom edges. One can also spot the vertically-stacked dual camera module with LED flash sandwiched in between the two sensors. The circular fingerprint scanner can also be seen on the rear panel. The image also reveals an 18:9 display on the fascia of the upcoming smartphone.
Moving on to the core specs, the display of the Mi 6X is tipped to be a 5.99-inch panel with full HD+ screen resolution, just like the Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, the Mi 6X is expected to be thinner than the Redmi Note 5 Pro, with a waistline of only 7.3mm as compared to the 8.05mm thickness on the latter. Further, the upcoming handset is expected to feature a smaller 2,910mAh battery as compared to the 4,000mAh unit on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Other tipped specifications include a USB Type-C port and dual-SIM. Apart from these, there is no further information available regarding the Mi 6X, including the launch timeline.
Notably, Xiaomi is all set to launch its third-generation Mi Mix 2S at an event in China tomorrow i.e. March 27th. It is being speculated that the brand will also launch two other devices, including Mi AI Speaker’s Mini edition, at the event. We will bring you more updates as the event unfolds tomorrow.
