Xiaomi is all set to launch the successor to Mi 5X called Mi 6X today at the Wuhan University in China, which happens to be CEO Lei Jun’s alma mater. Being one of the most anticipated smartphones this year, the handset has been subjected to a lot of rumours and speculations ahead of the official launch. We have seen the purported hands-on video, leaked retail box, TENAA listing, alleged hands-on images and the official renders from the brand revealing the colour options, and design. These leaks and speculations have left nothing to the imagination and we know now what to expect from the upcoming smartphone.
To begin with, the Mi 5X was launched globally as Mi A1 (review) by the brand, and we can expect the Mi 6X to be launched as the Mi A2. While the 6X will come with the brand’s MIUI, it’s safe to assume that the A2 will be an Android One device, booting stock Android 8.1 Oreo. As for the aesthetics, we have seen from the renders shared by the brand that it will have a similar design to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (review). The fascia of the smartphone is speculated to offer a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution.
As for the core specs, Xiaomi Mi 6X is rumoured to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. While leaks have suggested 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option, latest reports suggest that the brand might launch the smartphone in multiple variants. On the imaging front, the Xiaomi Mi 6X is said to feature a 20-megapixel selfie camera with dedicated LED flash, similar to the one on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. As for the rear, it is expected to flaunt a dual camera module with the primary lens being a 20-megapixel unit. On the battery front, the phone is said to be powered by a 2,910mAh cell.
According to the teaser by the brand, the Xiaomi Mi 6X will come in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, Red and Lake Blue colours. In terms of the pricing, if previous reports are to be believed, its pricing will start at Rs 19,000. We will bring you official details as and when the handset is unveiled.
