“Xiaomi has already confirmed that its next flagship will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor”
Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Mi 7, has been the subject of a number of leaks and reports lately. Ahead of the unveiling, Xiaomi and Qualcomm both have already confirmed that the Mi 7 will be powered by the top-notch Snapdragon 845 flagship SoC. Multiple reports have been suggesting that the brand will be unveiling the Mi 7 in the first quarter of this year. Now, Xiaomi has been confirmed as one of the exhibitors at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 event, which has fuelled speculations regarding the Mi 7’s unveiling at the event.
This year’s Mobile World Congress will be held between February 26th and March 1st in Barcelona, Spain. Xiaomi will have a booth at the Hall 6 Stand 6B30. It is being speculated that the brand could take to the floor at the event to unveil its next flagship, the Mi 7. If this happens, Xiaomi could become the first Chinese brand to debut a Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone.
As far as the Xiaomi Mi 7’s specs are concerned, CEO Lei Jun recently announced that since the vendor will be focusing on AI in 2018, its upcoming phones will be equipped with this tech. The brand is expected to offer AI capabilities with the dual rear camera setup on its upcoming handset to deliver an impressive imaging experience. It’s also expected to be the brand’s first phone to offer wireless charging capabilities.
Coming to the other specs, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is rumoured to feature a 5.8-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and minimal bezels. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 845 SoC is expected to be paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, depending on the model. According to the leaks, along with dual rear cameras, the device will sport a 13MP selfie snapper, a 3,950mAh battery and MIUI atop Android 8.0 Oreo.
If the reports are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be available at a starting price tag of RMB 2,699 (~Rs 26,000). Unfortunately, there’s no way to confirm any of this information, so it’s advisable to take it with a pinch of salt.
