Today, as expected, the handset maker has gone ahead and pulled curtains off its latest flagship at the event. The brand’s latest flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 8, is its first smartphone to boast a display notch, just like the recently launched devices bezel-less smartphones.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 boasts a premium metal and glass body with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Just like the Apple iPhone X, the phone also gets Infrared face unlock, which the company claims can unlock the device securely even in the dark. Software-wise, the handset boots MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo out of the box, which brings a smorgasbord of new features.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 ships with a 6.21-inch display flaunting an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 2,248 x 1,080 pixels. The performance of the handset is handled by the high-end Snapdragon 845 processor ticking at its core. The phone has received an impressive AnTuTu benchmark score of 301,472, which the brand claims is the highest for all devices equipped with the Snapdragon 845 SoC. The Mi 8 gets 6GB of RAM, and comes in three storage configurations – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
In the optics department, the Xiaomi Mi 8 boasts two 12-megapixel primary cameras at the rear. The dual-camera setup is accompanied by 4-axis optical image stabilisation, Dual Pixel autofocus, AI portrait mode, AI scene detection, and a dual-tone LED flash. The phone is also equipped with Studio Lighting, which delivers AI-enhanced portrait photography. The handset has received an impressive photo sub-score of 105 on DxOMark’s camera test. This tech eliminates interference from buildings and decreases signal delays, which increases the accuracy of navigation with the Mi 8. The other connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and USB Type-C. A 3,400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology keeps the phone running.

The phone’s 128GB and 256GB models are being offered for RMB 2,999 (~Rs Rs 31,600) and RMB 3,299 (~Rs 34,800) respectively.
