“Xiaomi had previously unveiled a limited edition Roy Wang rear cover for the Mi 9 and will now unveil a cosmetic makeover in partnership with Wang”
Xiaomi is reportedly set to launch a new, custom edition variant of its flagship smartphone, the Mi 9 (first impressions), in partnership with its brand ambassador in China, Roy Wang. The iconic celebrity is massively popular in China and was on stage to unveil the Mi 9 earlier this year. Not much is known about the upcoming Mi 9 Roy Wang Custom Edition smartphone, although it is largely believed that the device will bring a few cosmetic makeovers, and possibly a dedicated Roy Wang theme to go with.
Xiaomi had previously unveiled a limited edition Roy Wang rear cover for the Mi 9, shortly after launching the phone itself. It has not been clarified if this version of the device will also be a limited edition one, although that is most likely to be the case. The Mi 9 Roy Wang Custom Edition is also certain to be limited to China only.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 was one of the first smartphones to launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 inside. However, it did not include the optional X50 5G modem and is only capable of 4G LTE connectivity. Alongside the latest flagship processor from Qualcomm, it further includes 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage. It is also Xiaomi’s first triple camera smartphone. At the rear, it includes three cameras that serve three individual purposes, while also being capable of working together.
The first module has a holographic LED ring around it, and is the telephoto camera — featuring a 12MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor and an f/2.2 telephoto lens that provides 2x optical zoom. The primary module is the second camera, which includes Sony’s cutting edge IMX586 sensor. This 48MP module uses pixel binning to improve overall photograph quality, while also being able to shoot great high resolution RAW photos. This is paired with an f/1.75 lens. The third one is a 16MP Sony IMX481 sensor, paired with a wide angle lens.
To the front, the Xiaomi Mi 9 includes a pretty small notch, which houses the 20MP front camera. All of these features should remain the same with the Mi 9 Roy Wang Custom Edition, when it launches in China on April 1st.
