“The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is the compact variant of the flagship Mi 9 from the brand and packs the same amount of power”
Ahead of the MWC 2019 last month, Xiaomi launched its flagship line-up, comprising the standard Mi 9, the cheaper Mi 9 SE (first impressions), and the top-of-the-line Mi 9 Transparent in China. While the Mi 9 and Transparent Edition were unveiled at the MWC 2019, the compact SE variant remained restricted to China. However, this situation might change now as the Mi 9 SE has been listed on the global compliance page of the company.
The listing of the smartphone on the global compliance hints that that company might be gearing up to launch the Mi 9 SE globally. However, it’s advisable to take this bit of information with a pinch of salt as several phones that are listed on the page are yet to find their way out of China. But again, several leaks and rumours in the past have hinted that the Mi 9 SE might actually find its way to the international shores. If we talk about the official front, Xiaomi is yet to confirm officially whether the smartphone will be launched globally.
To recap on the spec sheet of the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, the smartphone ships with 5.97-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution and waterdrop notch on top. The smartphone is also the first in the world to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 712 SoC. The chipset is backed by up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. In the imaging department, the Mi 9 SE comes with a triple camera module, same as the Mi 9 but with less powerful sensors. The setup comprises a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor backed by an 8-megapixel telephoto and a 13-megapixel wide-angle. A 3,070mAh battery with 18W fast charging support rounds up the spec sheet.
As of now, there is no word on when or whether the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE will be launched globally. We will bring you more information as and when Xiaomi makes it official.
