“We take a look at the camera capabilities of the Mi Mix 2”

Xiaomi took to stage yesterday to announce its flagship Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (first impressions) as well as the Mi Note 3 (first impressions). While the Mi Mix 2 is the latest high-end offering from the brand and has a loaded spec sheet, it hasn’t joined the dual-camera party. This might put the new device at a disadvantage against the likes of newest flagships – the Samsung Galaxy Note8, upcoming Apple iPhone X, and the likes. If you go by our initial impressions however, even with a single camera module, the Mi Mix 2 is quite capable of capturing some well-detailed images.

For the uninitiated, the all new Mi Mix 2 and the Special Edition both feature a 12MP Sony IMX386 camera sensor. While the brand has not mentioned the aperture, it has a large pixel size of 1.25µm, allowing more light to enter. On the video front, the camera is capable of recording 4K resolution, albeit at 30fps. Having talked specs, let’s take a look at the results produced by the camera in the gallery below.

To recap the other specs, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 flaunts a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels and aspect ratio of 18:9. The handset with a ceramic back and aluminum chassis is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC mated to 6GB RAM. The Special Edition variant with a ceramic unibody design comes with 8-gigs of RAM and 128GB storage. Apart from the 12MP unit on the back, the device also features a 5MP secondary camera for selfies. The Android 7.1.1-toting handset features a 3,400mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.

While the Mi Mix was never launched in India, the company has confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 will be arriving in the country soon. Stay tuned to 91mobiles for more information on the launch.
