Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 expected to come with a dedicated Xiao AI button, Mi LEX variant also said to be in the works

“It’s being speculated that the Mi LEX could be a stripped-down variant of the Mi Mix 3”

While the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has been the subject of various rumours and speculations in past, we got our first look at the smartphone last month when Xiaomi’s President – Lin Bin – shared an official image on Weibo. Since then the handset has been leaked several times, most recently via the MIIT certification spotting and the alleged real-life images of the smartphone that popped up online. Now, another leaked image on Weibo suggests that the upcoming smartphone might come with a dedicated button for the Xiao AI smart assistant.

The leaked image suggests that the physical button will activate the Xiao AI assistant on the phone. The Xiao assistant works the same way as Siri, Bixby and the Google Assistant, which means it should be able to perform complex voice-based tasks as well as hardware operations. In the same image, a mysterious Mi LEX smartphone has also been mentioned, and that is likely to be a stripped-down variant of the Mi Mix 3. Unfortunately, the Xiao AI smart assistant is a China-exclusive feature, which raises questions as to whether the upcoming Mi Mix 3 will launch in India or other markets or not… provided these speculations turn out to be true.

To recap on the expected specs of the Mi Mix 3, the smartphone is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The brand could offer the Mi Mix 3 in two configurations – 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 256GB. Further, the handset is speculated to have a manual sliding design to house the selfie camera, earpiece and ambient sensor. This would allow the brand to achieve an impressive screen-to-body ratio with next to no bezels on all four sides, as we have already seen in the previous images. At the rear, the smartphone is expected to offer a dual primary camera setup and a glass panel.

It remains to be seen whether the smartphone gets launched outside China, which might mean Xiao AI might finally find its way to India and other regions, or the button might be re-mappable. We will bring you more updates regarding the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Mi LEX, whenever they emerge.
