Mi MIX Alpha listed on official Xiaomi India website, but it won’t go on sale

Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha was unveiled back in September 2019 in China as a futuristic smartphone with a wraparound display. The handset was recently shown off in a closed media interaction in India. Now, the Mi MIX Alpha is listed on the official Xiaomi India website under the Mi Phones section, and this was first spotted by PriceBaba. While the listing may suggest the phone could go on sale in India, PriceBaba has learnt that Xiaomi has no plans to sell the smartphone. Instead, the Mi Mix Alpha will be displayed across Mi Home stores in the country. This way, Xiaomi can let users know of its design and innovation without actually launching it. Xiaomi is aiming to introduce more of its premium Mi phones under its Mi branding this year, and it recently teased the launch of Mi Note 10.

Mi MIX Alpha specifications

The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha flaunts a 7.92-inch Flexible OLED display with a 2,088×2,250 pixels resolution and 180.6 percent screen to body ratio. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC coupled with Adreno 640 GPU, 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB internal storage. In terms of software, the handset boots Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 custom skin on top. As for the cameras, the Mi MIX Alpha rocks a 108-megapixel primary Samsung HMX sensor with LED flash, OIS, Laser Autofocus, PDAF, CAF, a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 wide-angle lens with 117-degree field of view and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x zoom at the back. On the front, the Mi Mix Alpha has a 20MP camera (f/2.0) for selfies and video chats.

The Mi MIX Alpha measures 154.38×72.3×10.4mm and weighs 241 grams. As for the Connectivity options, it is equipped with 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-frequency GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC, and USB Type-C. A 4,050mAh battery with 40W fast-charging support fuels the handset.
