Mi Smart Speaker was launched in India today at Xiaomi’s Smart Living 2020 online event, alongside Mi Band 5 and Mi Watch Revolve. It’s the first speaker launched by Xiaomi, powered by Google Assistant for voice commands; it understands Hindi commands as well. To differentiate it from the rest of the Google-powered smart speakers in the market, Xiaomi says the sound its Mi Smart Speaker delivers has been designed for the Indian audience. The sound and aggressive pricing are the key USPs of the new speaker. Other than this, Mi Smart Speaker has an oblong shape from the top and features a metal mesh design with a matte finish and an Amazon Echo-like LED ring atop for indicators. Mi Smart Speaker price in India, first sale date

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker price in India is Rs 3,999, but it’ll be available at an introductory price of Rs 3,499 at its first sale on October 1st. The speaker will be up for purchase via Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home in India.

The Google Assistant-powered Mi Smart Speaker features a 12W 63.5-inch front-firing audio driver tuned with DTS sound. The speaker has a touch panel atop with controls to adjust the volume level, play/ pause music tracks, and mute the in-built microphones, and a ring that glows when you are speaking to it. The device comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support and has the ability to pair two smart speakers together or a smart TV. The Mi Smart Speaker also ships with two far-field microphones for voice controls and a multi-room setup. Additionally, the smart audio device from Xiaomi is compatible with all connected devices that have Google Assistant support.

At the core of the speaker lies a Hi-Fi audio processor made by Texas Instrument that is said to accurately decode audio signals. Apart from this, the speaker has built-in Chromecast and ability to summon security camera feed on TV, among other things.
