Xiaomi MIUI 11 launched in India; rollout will begin October 22nd

Alongside the Redmi Note 8 series, Xiaomi has launched the MIUI 11 in India. It’s the new iteration of Android custom skin from Xiaomi with its major highlights being a new minimalistic design, “ultimate” full-screen experience, animated dynamic clock for the Always-on display, and a bunch of other updates. The MIUI 11 features a brand-new font, ‘Milan Pro’ and new “dynamic” font scaling that is said to adjust the boldness of the text based on the content displayed on the phone. Xiaomi has also included new notifications and alarm sound, which includes birds chirping, the sound of insects, and natural world sounds, with the latest software. The MIUI rollout will begin in India in four phases starting from October 22nd.

The first phase, which will conclude on October 31st, includes Redmi K20, POCO F1, Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7S, and Redmi Note 7 Pro. Interestingly, the Redmi K20 Pro is scheduled to get the MIUI 11 update in the second phase along with Redmi 6 series, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Y1 and Y2, Redmi 5 series, Redmi 4, Mi Mix 2, and Mi Max 2 from November 4th-12th.

The third phase, which includes Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 7, Redmi 7A, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi Note 8, will get MIUI 11 update on November 13th-29th. The latest Redmi Note 8 Pro is slated to get the MIUI 11 in the last phase, i.e. December 18th-26th.

The MIUI 11 stable version will start rolling out from October 22nd in India.

As for the features, the MIUI 11 has redesigned Aways-on-Display settings for phones with AMOLED screen such as Redmi K20 series. The software allows users to customise the lock screen with animated watch faces, a custom text, ever-changing kaleidoscope, and breathing notification. Xiaomi says that it has received two new Red Dot design awards (one of its kind) for the new visual design and sound effects on MIUI 11.
