“MIUI 11 will be the next version of Xiaomi’s custom skin and is said to be more ‘unified’ than last year’s MIUI 10”
Xiaomi has shared more details about its forthcoming custom skin MIUI 11. The company has been working on the OS for quite some time and now it seems to edging closer to its public release. Xiaomi’s MIUI development team has revealed a number of other features in an AMA session on Weibo that will make their debut on the MIUI 11.
Straight off the bat, the MIUI 11 is said to come with a brand new set of system icons, redesigned from the ground up. The icons will have a ‘unified’ design, which the company hopes will gain everyone’s praise. Unlike its predecessor, MIUI 10, Xiaomi’s next-gen UI is expected to integrate and optimise the core functions.
Furthermore, MIUI 11 will have an ultimate power saving mode that will turn off all the background system functions except calls and messages. The mode will also turn the phone’s screen to monochrome to conserve battery. Hopefully, users will be able to customise the feature according to their needs. The custom skin will also come with a couple of smart features such as automatically deleting screenshots after they have been shared as well as an optimised status bar.
The brand has previously confirmed that MIUI 11 will have a system-wide dark mode, improvements to notifications, ability to lock an app using face or fingerprint, and new Dolby sound effects. The exact launch date of the MIUI 11 is not known at the moment, however, looking at the Xiaomi’s past track record, it may launch the UI around September.
