“The latest version of Xiaomi’s custom MIUI is based on Android 4.4 KitKat”
Xiaomi has announced that the company will upgrade all of its smartphones in India to MIUI v6 in early 2015. The vendor is finalising the roadmap of the new OS update for Indian Mi phone users and will announce more specific details in a week or two.
So far, the Chinese brand has released four smartphones in India – the Xiaomi Mi 3 (review), Redmi 1s (review), Redmi Note (review) and Redmi Note 4G. These devices are expected to get the latest MIUI version that is based on Android 4.4 KitKat in early February. MIUI 6 is already being tested in the beta version in India for the Xiaomi Mi 3. Xiaomi is also investigating MIUI 6 on Android 5.0.
The company released the kernel source for the Redmi 1s today. The kernel source for the Redmi Note and its 4G variant will be released in early 2015, while the Mi 3’s source code will be available to the developers in Q1 next year.
Additionally, the brand revealed that it is working to bring the Xiaomi Mi 4 (review), Mi Band, and Mi TV/Mi Box in India. The Mi 4 flagship will be launched in the country early next year.
