“Xiaomi’s latest Android custom skin MIUI 11 has a refresh rate toggle in the display settings with a 120Hz option”
Xiaomi has a phone with a high refresh rate and a new telephoto lens with 5x zoom in the pipeline. Folks over at XDA Developers have spotted up to 120Hz refresh rate option in the company’s latest Android custom skin MIUI 11. The software is out in the beta form (in China) with a refresh rate toggle in the display settings that also has a 120Hz option. The description for the setting says that higher refresh rates “[make] the picture smoother” while lower refresh rates (60Hz) “[save] battery.”
This is a sign that the Xiaomi is working on a smartphone that’ll have refresh rate as high as 120Hz. So far, only a handful of handsets – that too gaming – including Razer Phone and ASUS ROG Phone II have a refresh rate that high. Users will be able to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate on Xiaomi device, according to MIUI 11 beta source code. There is no 90Hz refresh rate option at the moment.
In addition to this, Xiaomi is also working on a new telephoto lens for its upcoming smartphones. Once again the MIUI 11 source code has spilled the beans. The camera app of the next-gen MIUI software reveals a new camera zoom mode: “Tele 5X.” This could be the marketing name adopted by Xiaomi for its 5X optical or “lossless” zoom. Apart from this, reference of the new “ultra tele” feature with the description that says “use 50X zoom to capture distant objects in greater detail” has also been spotted within the app.
That’s all the information we can divulge at the moment! It remains unclear if all these features including 8K video recording at 30fps that was revealed previously will debut on the same smartphone or Xiaomi has something else planned out. We expect the company to drop some hints in the near future, so stay tuned to 91mobiles.
