“Xiaomi has also confirmed that the POCO F1 will get the Android Q update as well”
When Xiaomi announced its sub-brand POCO and the debut launch – POCO F1 (review), it also announced that the smartphone will get the Android Pie update by the end of the year. It seems that brand is sticking to its guns as the MIUI Beta Testers on POCO F1 have started receiving the Android 9 Pie-based MIUI Global Beta 10.
POCO F1 Android Pie based MIUI 10 details
The POCO F1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI with a skin on top, which has different visuals and an app drawer that original MIUI lacks. Xiaomi calls the software – ‘MIUI for POCO’. The newest update for beta testers comes with the version number MIUI Global Beta 10.8.30. The latest build is currently rolling out to select beta testers and cannot be installed using a custom recovery and also not via Updater method, as it is a close beta. The report states that the regular MIUI Global Beta 10 will start rolling out to all users starting November 2nd. However, at the moment it is not known what new does the latest update brings to the POCO F1. However, we can expect the usual features of the MIUI 10 to come over to POCO as well.
Earlier this week, Jai Mani, Head of Product, POCO revealed in a reply to a tweet that the POCO F1 will receive at least two major updates – Android Pie and Q, whatever that will be called.

To recall, the POCO F1 comes with a notch-toting 5.99-inch Full HD+ display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The chipset is backed by up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage that can be further expandable with a microSD card. Xiaomi has also equipped the smartphone with “LiquidCool Technology”, which keeps the thermal throttle in check during heavy usage and gaming. In the imaging department, the smartphone offers a dual 12MP + 5MP setup on the rear panel and a 20MP selfie shooter. The smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.
The POCO F1 comes with a starting price of Rs 20,999 and colour options of Steel Blue, Graphite Black, Rosso Red and Armored Edition with Kevlar.
