Xiaomi had announced earlier this year that its most affordable smartphone – Redmi 5A (review) sold a million units within a month of its launch. The brand then went on to launch a new Redmi 5A colour option in India – Lake Blue – when the sales of the smartphone touched five million mark in March. Now, citing IDC’s monthly smartphone tracker for August 2018, Xiaomi has announced that Redmi 5A sales in India have crossed 10 million units in nine months. With this, the Redmi 5A has become the fastest-selling smartphone in India to touch the 10 million mark in a short span, the company claims.

To recap on the Redmi 5A specifications, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch display, which has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The performance is handled by the Snapdragon 425 SoC and Xiaomi offers the handset in two configurations: 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. For imaging, get a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The handset boots MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi is offering the Redmi 5A in India four hues – Lake Blue, Dark Grey, Gold, and Rose Gold. The Redmi 5A price in India for the 2GB RAM variant is Rs 5,999, whereas the 3GB model will set you back by Rs 6,999.
