Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A (review), which was launched in India in November last year has been one of the best selling smartphones for the brand. The handset crossed 10 million units in sales in India and also the third best selling smartphone in the world in the month of March. Considering the popularity of the smartphone, Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 10.1.1 Global Stable update for it ahead of China. Notably, Xiaomi rolls out new software updates in China before everywhere else.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A MIUI 10 update details
The smartphone was launched last year with MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and now the latest MIUI 10 update is also based on the same software. The MIUI 10.1.1 update for the Redmi 5A comes with the build number MIUI 10.1.1.0.NCKMIFA. As of now, there is no file for the same to be downloaded and manually flash as Xiaomi is seeding it through OTA update. The update is being rolled out in phased manner globally, while a beta ROM is also being seeded to a select batch of users in India. While there is no changelog available, we can expect the update to have full-screen gestures, redesigned volume sliders, improved multi-tasking management, natural sound system, redesigned notification panel.
It’s being speculated that we might see an Android Oreo-based MIUI 10 update before the year ends.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A price in India, features, specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes with a 5-inch display, which has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The performance of the handset is handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, which is backed by either 2GB or 3GB RAM, depending on the variant. The storage options include 16GB and 32GB, respectively. Coming to the camera department, the smartphone comes with 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Powering the device is a 3,000mAh battery.
As for the pricing, the price of 2GB RAM variant is Rs 5,999, whereas the 3GB model will set you back by Rs 6,999.
