“The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is the most expensive of the lot that comes with a display notch”
Last month, Xiaomi announced that it’ll be hosting an event on September 5th in India. The speculations were rife that the smartphone maker will launch Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 (first impression) and Redmi 6 Pro (review) at the event. Turns out that the rumours were actually correct, as the Chinese conglomerate has gone ahead and launched all three handsets in the country today.
Speaking of the most expensive of the lot first, the Redmi 6 Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone in India with a notched display. The smartphone comes with a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 2.5D curved glass on top. Driving the performance of the handset is a Snapdragon 625 SoC, backed by Adreno 512 GPU. Xiaomi is offering the Redmi 6 Pro in two variants — 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. In the camera department, you get a dual camera module comprising of 12MP shooter accompanied by 5MP secondary snapper on the back and 5MP selfie camera. The handset boots Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 out of the box and is powered by a beefy 4,000mAh battery.
Coming to the Redmi 6, the handset gets a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and is powered by a Helio P22 chipset. The smartphone comes in two configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM, and 3GB RAM + 64GB ROM. As for optics, The Redmi 6 comes with a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on the rear panel and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. The smartphone boots Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 interface and is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery. The Redmi 6A shares it spec sheet with the Redmi 6 except for Helio A22 processor, single 13MP rear camera and 2GB / 16GB or 2GB / 32GB configuration. While both the Redmi 6 and 6 Pro offer a fingerprint sensor and face unlock, the Redmi 6A only features the latter for security.
Moving on to pricing and availability, the Xiaomi Redmi 6A’s 2GB variant has been priced at Rs 5,999, while the phone’s 3GB model will be available for Rs 6,999. The smartphone will go on sale starting September 19th. The Redmi 6’s 3GB / 32GB and 3GB /64GB variants are being offered for Rs 7,999 and Rs 9,499 respectively, and will be available from September 10th. Notably, the prices of the Redmi 6 and 6A are introductory for two months, and are liable to increase if the rupee depreciates further, said the company. Both the Redmi 6 and 6A will be available in four hues – black, blue, gold, and rose gold.
Lastly, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro’s price starts at Rs 10,999 for the base 3GB model, which goes up to Rs 12,999 for the 4GB variant. This one will be available starting from September 11th. The Pro variant is being offered in red, black, blue, and rose gold. The Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro will go on sale on Amazon India and Mi.com in the starting. While the Redmi 6 will be available on Flipkart and Mi.com. Soon, they will also retail through Mi Home stores and the brand’s offline partners across the country.
