Redmi 9A? Xiaomi teases new budget smartphone launch on February 11th

“Redmi India has teased an upcoming smartphone with a 5,000mAh battery and a dual rear camera”

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is gearing up to launch a new budget smartphone on February 11th, and it could be the Redmi 9A. The company’s official handle has been teasing a new product launch for quite a while now. While the “#MorePowerToRedmi” still hints at a possible power bank under the Redmi brand, the company’s recent post suggests that there will be two products that would launch on the said date. The specifications and the features of the upcoming device that have been teased resonate with a budget smartphone, thereby making us believe that it could very well be the upcoming Redmi 9A smartphone. Adding to it, the promotional poster for the device reads “Desh ka Dumdaar smartphone,” which, in case you are unaware, has been used with the likes of the Redmi 8A smartphone in the past.

The event page for the device is already live, and it gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from it. First up, the alleged Redmi 9A will sport a beefy 5,000mAh battery. Furthermore, the company has teased the camera capabilities of the Redmi 9A, especially the fact that it can take “perfect portraits.” Though not explicitly mentioned, we can see that the company has dropped an Easter egg via the promotional poster. We can spot a dual-camera setup in the poster, which, by the way, won’t come as a surprise, given that the Realme C3 device also features a similar setup. Speaking of, the Realme C3 smartphone has launched on the same day Xiaomi teased the launch of the upcoming budget smartphone. Both the phones will likely compete head-to-head under Rs 10,000.

Lastly, the event page has categorized the second product under “new category launch,” and we can only speculate it to be a power bank. Note that Redmi has so far not launched any such accessory in India.
