“Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G could be the first smartphone with fifth-gen cellular connectivity in India”
Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G smartphone has seemingly surfaced on Indian certification site BIS. The handset recently went for sale in China after being released alongside the 4G variant in the country last month. Xiaomi is yet to confirm the Redmi K30’s availability outside its home market, but its listing on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) suggest that the India launch is just around the corner. The phone appeared on the certification agency on January 9th with model number M2001G7AI. The model number belongs to the Redmi K30 5G, and if Xiaomi is indeed planning to bring the handset to India, it could be the first smartphone with fifth-gen cellular connectivity. Speaking of which, 5G network in India is yet to roll out commercially. Redmi K30 5G BIS listing comes a month after the 4G model of surfaced on BIS.

To recall, the Redmi K30 5G ships with a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ punch-hole display. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chipset with an integrated dual-mode 5G modem. The phonemaker ships the handset with four RAM and storage configurations — 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. The phone runs Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box and houses a 4,500mAh battery pack with 30W fast charging.
Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G sports a pill-shaped cutout on the display to house dual selfie cameras including a 20-megapixel sensor and 2-megapixel sensor. The phone has quad-camera layout on the back that consists of a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 image sensor in the primary module, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle unit, a 5-megapixel macro photography unit, and a 2-megapixel depth assisting unit. The K30 5G features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 4G model, meanwhile, has a Snapdragon 730G SoC under the hood. It comes with the same storage and RAM variants as well as selfie cameras, software, display, and battery cell as the 5G model. The rear camera of the phone features a similar setup but exchanges the 5MP macro lens for a 2MP macro lens. Lastly, the Redmi K30 4G version sports 27W fast charging support instead of a 30W tech.
