“A screenshot of the upcoming Redmi Note 2 has been shared by the company’s CEO, Lei Jun”
The aging budget phablet Redmi Note (review) is all set to get a successor soon. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has just confirmed the launch of a new Note smartphone for June 29th and has shared a screenshot from the device on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
The details about the Redmi Note 2 have been cropping up every now and then, and latest announcement just adds fuel to the fire. Seeing the fact that the smartphone will break cover in late June, we can expect it to go on sale in China in July which would be followed by an Indian launch in the next few months.
The rumoured specifications of the device point towards a 5.5-inch full HD display and possibly a Helio X10 / Snapdragon 410 depending upon the region. The device will run Android 5.0 with MIUI. The rear could sport a 13MP camera and the front will get a 5MP camera. The device is likely to be fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery.
Pricing has been the key to Xiaomi’s success globally and this device won’t be any different either.
