Xiaomi had recently rolled out the latest MIUI 10 update for its the Redmi 6, 6A (first impressions) and 6 Pro (review), in China. We can expect these smartphones to receive the same in India in coming days. However, before that, the brand has rolled out the update for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (review) in the country. The latest update brings some of the newest features to the device, including support for the gesture navigation.

The MIUI 10 OTA update rolling out to the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with the version number MIUI The update comes with a footprint of 580MB and brings along the September 2018 Android Security Patch as well. Apart from this, the update also brings the support for full-screen gestures, which are ideal for the 18:9 aspect ratio. Further, the new update also brings the support for natural sounds and ambient sounds. However, at the time of writing this, our office unit had still not received the update. It is possible that the brand is rolling out the update in a phased manner. With this, the Redmi Note 5 Pro becomes the second smartphone after the Redmi Y2 (review) to receive the latest update.


To recap on the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the smartphone comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Ticking at its core is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor accompanied by Adreno 509 GPU. Xiaomi is offering the smartphone in two RAM variants – 4GB and 6GB, both with 64GB storage. In the imaging department, the phone comes with a 12-megapixel primary snapper backed by 5-megapixel secondary shooter on the rear panel. For selfies, there is a 20-megapixel shooter on the front accompanied by a dedicated LED flash. The smartphone boots MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat out of the box and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is now available through the open sale on Flipkart. The 4GB RAM variant has been priced at Rs 13,999, while its 6GB model will set you back by Rs 16,999.
